What is the inspiration for overfiftiesfriends.co.uk?
Thank you for visiting overfiftiesfriends.co.uk. If you're over 50, single and looking to expand your social horizons, then hopefully we may have just the answer for you. Overfiftiesfriends is a unique new Web community where you can join to make new friends by getting together to pursue mutual interests.
The emphasis is on activities arranged by you, the members.
The activities section of the site is the pivotal point, enabling people to meet without the pressures of dating and with safety in numbers. It is up to you, the members, to communicate with one another and decide when it feels right to meet and what activities and interests you want to pursue.
People find themselves alone at this stage in their lives for very many reasons. It may be divorce or separation, bereavement or change of address. Initially people may need only their close friends and family around them, but eventually most people feel ready to branch out again. The prospect of dating can seem too daunting but finding new friends, new interests and meeting in groups could just be the way forward!
Joining overfiftiesfriends.co.uk allows you, the members to message each other in real-time and find someone to share your interests, whatever they might be. Browsing profiles and joining in the activities forum may give you the opportunity to start new interests as well as to introduce others to the things that interest you.

Overfiftiesfriends.co.uk is run by mother and son Sue and Miles Avison, from Rugby in the UK.
Sue is an active over 50, whilst son Miles is an almost-as-active 30 year-old, now based in Stockholm, Sweden. The partnership works well, and the distance certainly helps! Both Sue and Miles work for themselves, in the furniture and language businesses respectively. Sue had the vision for the site and Miles was able to help her make it a reality. Their vision is for Overfiftiesfriends.co.uk to become the best UK community for over fifties looking for friendship and activities. Simple, and so far, effective!
