Overfiftiesfriends.co.uk is the brain child of mother and son Sue and Miles Avison. The intention was to make a unique community for UK over fifties. Silver surfers have plenty to choose from on the Web, but this site is the only successful portal for seniors to find friends and organise activities. Members from across the UK and more and more from foreign shores, are organising all sorts of activities here and it's rewarding to see.
Most activities are created on a regional basis, and one of the fields when creating an activity is "Location". But some members travel the length and breadth of the country to meet other seniors they have met on the site. So the idea is for people to meet in groups and thus avoid some of the pressures associated with online (and offline) dating. And this is exactly what is happening. We have heard about plenty of friendships made and also romantic success stories. We try to interact with our members as much as possible, chatting with them regularly here on the site, but also meeting them at some events, such as jazz nights, parties and so on.

We also have a section entitled "Job Opportunities for over 50s". Here we provide various links and advice on employment opportunities for seniors. We will eventually be adding more direct job ads as well. So keep your eyes peeled on this section (left menu).
