Description

El hombre murciélago solo escucha la historia que le narra el viejo detective Slam Bradley en su lecho de muerte. Ex-cop turned PI Slam Bradley is hired to deliver a letter to the Waynes which turns out to be a ransom note. Richard is reduced to the pathetic man he always was, as it becomes clear that both Slam and Constance know what’s been happening.

When Slam Bradley is hired to deliver a letter to Richard Wayne, he gets caught in a web of kidnapping, lies, and murder! Gotham City: Year One concludes as one of the darkest tales ever told about Gotham City with nary a mask in sight and offers readers a potent spin on the familiar. The story of its fall from grace, the legend that would birth the Bat, has remained untold for 80 years. I had been looking forward to reading Gotham City: Year One from the moment I realized how much merit the plot had.comic) Batman and Robin (comic) Batman and Robin Eternal (comic) Batman/Superman (comic) Batman v Superman (General Mills) Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (comic) Batman: Arkham Unhinged Batwing (comic) Catwoman (comic) Detective Comics (comic) Earth 2 (comic) Earth 2: Society (comic) Gotham Academy (comic) Gotham Academy: Second Semester (comic) Gotham by Midnight (comic) Grayson (comic) Harley Quinn (comic) Injustice: Gods Among Us (comic) Injustice: Gods Among Us: Ground Zero (comic) Justice League (comic) Justice League/Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (comic) Justice League of America (Rebirth) Mother Panic (comic) New Suicide Squad (comic) Nightwing (comic) Poison Ivy: Cycle of Life and Death (comic) Red Hood/Arsenal (comic) Red Hood and the Outlaws (comic) Robin: Son of Batman (comic) Teen Titans Go! You might argue “well none of that matters because it’s an elseworlds” (and I’m not really even certain whether that’s supposed to be true for this story) but the broader context of the existing world is still relevant. To give some credit to King, the mystery aspect of the series was great (not as bloated as with Human Target). Gotham City: Year One tears down the legacies of the characters that readers care about because it makes for a shocking revelation and adds pathos to its own story.

A few instances of it are a slog, but Hester and Gapstur really set the tone perfectly between pencils and colors. The story mimics the real crime down to exacting details while putting Slam Bradley at the heart of the investigation. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. The warm color tones in the beginning seemed in conflict with the jaded detective narration that were overlaid on top of them. But I hate that it comes at the expense of a broader point that I can ascertain and get behind, with characters that I've seen a million times. If the premise of Gotham City: Year One was to change Bruce's family tree, then all I can say is why? Sam Bradly is an old man in a hospital room, presumably on his deathbed, who retells the part he played in an ugly time in Gotham's history to the Dark Knight. My main complain would be Sam Bradley’s origins, sounding phony and opportunist in this day and age.

Jordie Bellaire’s colors really shine here, as stark, pale depictions of Slam highlight the reds of the fire and blood. Recomendable, solo, si no te importa que Batman no participe en la historia ni esperas al mejor King en este tomo autoconclusivo de 192 páginas. Bellaire adds so much atmosphere, be it a blue light lighting or a green one, that seems to suggest an approaching kiss is wrong. On the other hand, it *is* a noir story filled with the tropes and trappings that sometimes plagued the genres in frustrating ways that make stuff like the social commentary fall a bit flat. Constance has a motive for wanting to put a stop to her husband, and Sam will likely spend the next issue finding evidence to prove it. You’re offering a new interpretation of the characters, but the baggage of what those characters represent is still there. Constance reaches out to Slam to try and get him to help raise the boy so that he doesn’t do something stupid like “march down some alley at night”.
